Sleepyheads

This cannot be comfortable.

Now, I have fallen asleep with a book in hand many times. But falling asleep with one over my face?  I don't think so.

She didn't even move when I removed the book!

If I were to put this girl down in her bed for a nap, she would just get up and start to play in her room after I left.  But leave her in a chair surrounded by nothing but hard surfaces?  She's out like a light!

And now for one with me.  Every now and again, Harper wakes up in the middle of the night and comes downstairs.  She always comes to my side of the bed (of course), and not being one to wake easily from my precious sleep, I just pull her into bed instead of getting up and bringing her back upstairs.  I wish that I could say that I sleep well when she's in bed with us, and while I like the snuggling, it's not usually that comfortable for me.  The reason?  I always end up on the very edge of the bed, so much so that I can't even roll over!  Harper sure is cute, but she is most certainly a bed hog!

Spring Break at the Beach - Oregon Style

Adam was able to take the Friday of spring break off of work, so we headed to the coast.  It was actually whale watching week, where the gray whales are out in full force during their migration north.  Unfortunately, we didn't see any whales, but we did have a great time combing the beaches.  First, we checked out Hug Point and it's fun beachside waterfall (and we did have to hug the point of the cliff as we came while the tide was coming in).

Next, we checked out Smuggler's Cove and the short hike down to the beach.

Finally, we ended at Ecola State Park where we rubbed shoulders with a herd of elk and took in the beautiful viewpoint.

No More Gary Busey Hair

If there's one mistake that I can say I've consistently made with both of my girls, it would be that I am terrible about the haircut.  With Claire, she suffered from the cul de sac baldness and I failed to shave her head to remedy it.  With Harper, it's her crazy mullet Gary Busey-like hair:

Well, I finally remedied it!  The start of the month meant that it was a great time for a new do for Harper.

I had a picture of a cute stacked bob which would adequately take care of the unevenness of her hair, but the stylist just kept going, leaving Harper with a pixie cut.  But you know what?  It suits her!

Just a cute little pixie and her dog!

Random February

Out to lunch with this cutie!

I love when these girls hang out together....even if it is when they are supposed to be sleeping.

Reasons my 2-year-old is crying:
1.  Because it's dinner time.  She hates dinner.  You could also replace "dinner" with "breakfast" or "lunch," and it would still ring equally true.  She hates all formal meals...except when it involves spaghetti and meatballs.
2.  Because it's the wrong colored bowl, and she didn't want a plate.
3.  Because soup.  A sentiment shared by all of my children.
4.  Because I won't give her a string cheese or a granola bar to replace the homemade turkey noodle soup that she doesn't want to eat.
5.  Because she asked for milk and so I got her milk and now she no longer wants milk.

Lego Batman!!

Cookie date with Harper.

Henry had a Valentine's Day "thing" at preschool.

Look at this sickie face!!

I found out SUU was in town to play Portland State, so we took the kids to watch some basketball.  Our little family made up the entirety of the SUU cheering squad, but we had a great time rooting on the T-Birds.  A coach even came over after the game to thank us for coming, so our presence was noted!  (We found out afterward that BYU had also been in town the same night to play University of Portland...but I'm sure they had an ample fan base to cheer them on.)

Henry was really into the game!

Sometimes Harper holds my hand when we're watching a movie together.  Love this little girl.

Claire's Baptism!

On February 2, Claire was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  We are so proud of her and her decision to be baptized!  She was so excited for this day to finally arrive.  She missed the cutoff for the stake baptism day in December, and because the January date was so close to New Year's Day, we decided to wait until February so family could attend.  We were so thankful that Grandma and Grandpa Belnap could be there for her special day!

Harper Turns 3!

We sure love this little girl, and we were excited to wish her a happy birthday.  But, of course, this little sassafrass decided to have so...
