Golden Girl

March Showers

What to do on a rainy Saturday afternoon?  Take a walk, of course!

Despite the rain, Henry refused to wear a coat or sweatshirt.  Nothing could stop him from checking out every. single. worm. in. sight.

Puddle shoes were required to attend, and the kids put them to good use.

Claire asked if she could take some pictures.  It was cute to watch her behind the lens.  She took pictures of grass and flowers and trees.  She even turned the camera on me!

Henry finally got chilly (as I warned him he would before we even left the house) and was no longer happy at the fact that he was wet.  He was so focused on getting home!  We had a great time trudging around in the rain though!

Walk in the Garden

We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful place.  As much as I love my home state, the winters there were always brutal.  It was cold and dreary well into March.  In Oregon, however, we have it easy.  This March, we were enjoying temps in the 60's and low 70's.  I took the kids to the Japanese Garden to enjoy just such a day.

The glassiness of the water looked straight out of a painting.

Claire really enjoyed it, and was very respectful of the surroundings.  Henry was a little less respectful.  He threw black rocks on to the combed white pebble zen garden.  He trampled all over the moss.  He tried to climb the bamboo barriers.  It was a little hairy at times.

We came at just the right time to see the cherry blossoms in bloom.

"Mom!",  Henry yelled to me.  "These fish are giant!"

Love these cute kiddos!

Portland is such a beautiful city.  We sure enjoy living here.

Random March

Look at those squishy baby legs!  She always crosses her feet at her ankles.  So lady-like!

My pal.

Cute snuggle buddies.

Claire's notes are the best!

Claire, trying her hand at Zelda, with Henry happily looking on.

Henry was so proud of himself for putting on his own tie.  He wore it this way all through church.

Look at that smile!

Claire has taken to writing her name in "curvis."

Henry was so cool, decked out head to toe in Lightning McQueen garb:  sunglasses, shirt, socks, shoes, and even underwear!

I love that happy face!

Claire and I went to see the new Cinderella movie with her best pal, Natalie, and her little sister, Lauren.  They had a great time!

While we were at the movie, Henry and Daddy went to the store to get Henry a new baseball "glub."

This little baby is so cute when she sleeps!

Harper is the cutest of shopping companions.

Why sit on a comfy couch when you can sit on the frame of a comfy couch?

I've taken a dozen pictures of Adam reading to the kids.  He finally took some of me!

Harper was not happy about sitting on the grass.  Claire swooped in to help her baby sister feel better.

Life is full of busy nothings, but so many of those things are full of sweetness.

No School II

Claire had another day off of school, and even though the weather was rainy, I had a plan.  I was going to take the kids to an indoor playground.  It was going to be a fun day.

Then we went into the garage to load into the van.  We had a flat tire.

Instead of playing at the playground for a couple of hours, we spent the next few hours getting four new tires on the van (turns out they all needed to be replaced).  Thankfully, they kids were able to make their own fun, running up and down the rows and rows of tires.

I still felt bad that the kids weren't able to play, so I took them to a McDonald's with a play place.  They seemed pretty satisfied with the consolation prize.

And I got to hang out with this little beauty while the bigger kids played.
