Over The Rainbow

Some of the best times I remember as a kid were when Mom or Dad would pile us in the car to run an errand (with Dad it was always a trip to the hardware store), and then we would instead pull up to the movie theater or museum or some fun activity completely by surprise.  I thought I would surprise the kids by taking them to the children's museum, and they were not disappointed.

On this visit, Henry seemed really excited about the climbing wall.   Little Man is actually pretty good at it, and I love the look of concentration on his face as he considers the best hand- or foothold to grab next.

We also had fun with the clay.  Mostly pounding it to death, but it was fun nonetheless.

The travelling exhibit was a Wizard of Oz theme.  There were lots of activities to do with light and color and sound.  It was pretty fun.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!

Bald Peak

We attempted to take a family hike Sunday after church, but the kids were more interested in playing in the grass.  It proved to be a good opportunity to take some pictures.

Claire likes to pose when I ask her to smile for the camera, or if she sees that it is pointed in her direction.  I wish she knew how beautiful she is when she's not posing.

Henry was a happy man as long as he had a cheese stick in hand.

Hard Work

This potty training business is hard work.  It's probably rough on Henry too, but, MAN.  Just when you think you have a handle of the "terrible two's" junk, you need to think about getting your kid toilet trained.

At least he looks good sitting around in his underoos.  (In order to minimize the trail-o-wet, I tried to get him to sit and watch shows as much as I could those first couple of days.  Henry was happy to oblige.)

When he filled up his sticker chart, we went to the store and picked up this shark car that he'd been eyeing for months.  He loves it.

But he's even been gracious enough to let his baby sister check it out.

He didn't want her getting any ideas though, and kept his hand on it at all times.

Splish Splash

I sure love this little dude.  Watching him play is seriously one of the best things ever.

These two sure love each other.

There Were Never Such Devoted Sisters

These two already have a special bond.  Claire just adores her baby sister, and Harper lights up when her big sister is talking to her.  Claire is already planning for the future:  she says that she wants to live right next door to Harper when they are grown up.  (Let's hope that sentiment lasts through the teenage years!)

For now, at least, they are the cutest of pals.

Toe Sucker

I thought Henry was going to do it.   But it was as though he tried it the one time - the time I took a picture of him indulging - and then had had enough.  Or maybe his belly was just so big that it wasn't possible to make a habit of it.  But Harper does it.  A lot.  And it is adorable.

Sometimes she can't decide if she wants to suck her toes or her thumb.  So she will suck on both.
