28 Days

Our little girl is due only 28 days from now! (But who's counting, right?) We are so excited, and we're feeling even more ready now that the move is done and we are unpacked for the most part. We have a lot of storage, a nice big room for the baby (and guests, if anyone is interested), and one of the greatest things is that I've only turned on the heater once for like 45 minutes in the week and a half since we've been here. (Our previous apartment had a loft, and it was expensive, not to mention near impossible, to keep warm). We couldn't be happier with our decision to move. I'm not saying that the apartment is perfect--no linen closet and terrible parking, for example--but we are really liking it here.

There is not a whole lot new to report. I am big and slow (Adam has even commented on how much slower my pace has become), but a lot of that has to do with the intense pressure on the bladder. And it has only been made worse because baby Claire dropped as of yesterday! I wish we had taken pictures a few days ago to compare, but yesterday morning I noticed as I looked down at my belly that something was different. You probably can't tell--heck, it took Adam the better part of the day to agree that she was lower--but as I walked into my book club with a co-clubbie, the first thing that she said to me was "has she dropped?" So at least I'm not crazy, if someone else noticed! Can a baby drop only partially? It's not a huge difference, but I can tell, especially when I sit down and my belly is resting on my lap. That, and the previously mentioned increase in bladder pressure. Anyway, here's the belly shot:

As for Adam, he finally hit puberty, so he decided to grow some facial hair. He has had a goatee for a few weeks now, but he tells me that by the time I get home from work tomorrow, it will only be a mustache. What joy is mine. But he has promised that as soon as I start to go into labor, he will shave it off for the sake of pictures. I told him that my dad had a mustache when Erin and I were brought home from the hospital in 1978, so it would be a little weird 30 years later for him to have a mustache when our daughter is brought home. It's not like he's Tom Selleck or anything. Though he does like to sport the short shorts Magnum, P.I. style...

Here he is, excited that there is only 1 month left before the birth of our daughter!

I'm glad your happy with the move. Our lease is up in Jan. we just decided yesterday after looking at some other apt. were going to resign because we love it here. Nothing like home sweet home. You look great. So cute pregnant. Adam looks like a different man with the T! Dev will be jelous he's always wanted to grow one. I guess puberty hits late with these boys.

You look great! I could never tell if I dropped or not and I hated it when people asked me because I felt like a bad pre-mother because I honestly couldn't tell! Yes, I think a baby can drop a little, it doesn't have to happen over night. At least that is what I kept telling myslef to make it feel better that I couldn't tell a difference.
I read somewhere that a high percentage (let's just say 90% because we can) of men grow facial hair toward the end of their wife's/sig. other's pregnancy. I guess it is because they have to prove they can grow something too. Men and their competitive natures! [me shaking head] I can't wait for little Claire, but I am sure you are more anxious than anyone. Good luck.
The other question I hated was "what is your labor plan?" I always kind of thought that was over complicating things. I mean, I am a strong girl and fairly fit, how hard could it be? It isn't like I won't progress into labor and never dilate and then have to have an emergency C section. I guess I wasn't as prepared as I could have been. Whoopsy.

Oh my goodness. Adam looks just like an old picture I have of my dad with a stash. Also, he kinda looks like scooby doo.

Good luck this month. I can't even imagine what it's like (totally uncharted territory for me).

I love this post! I especially love that Adam is doing the whole facial hair thing and your obvious enthusiasm! You're awesome Claudia! Call me sometime!

You are bigger. I think she has dropped. At least for me, I feel that way because you have space between your tummy and your chest to fold your arms. For me that only came when the baby dropped. SO I am going on that fact. I haven't seen you to know a difference. It is totally wierd to see Adam with facial hair. Didn't know he could do that. His dad use to hace a stache. I like 'em clean shaven too! We are counting the days with you!!!

We are almost as excited as you! You do look like your dad with a stache. Keep counting your steps along with the days!

It's about time you put pictures up of you! It has been forever and you look fantastic. Your face looks skinnier than before - I say this with the full realization that, even though I meant it as a compliment, you will smile for a minute and then start crying because you will think about the weight thing...I can't keep up with your emotions so I am just going to be honest because that is what sister's do. I like Meg's theory about the facial hair. Again, you look fantastic.

Harper Turns 3!

We sure love this little girl, and we were excited to wish her a happy birthday.  But, of course, this little sassafrass decided to have so...
